Fans: Boss' death biggest story of 2010
By Matt Marrone
For New York sports fans, 2010 came down to one grand entrance -- and one monumental departure.
In a neck-and-neck race, the death of legendary Yankees owner George Steinbrenner on July 13 beat out the arrival of newest Knicks superstar Amare Stoudemire on July 5 as our readers' choice for the most significant Big Apple sports moment of the year.

Meanwhile, LeBron James' "Decision" to take his talents to South Beach instead of Madison Square Garden, along with the Jets reaching the AFC title game and the Yankees' loss to the Rangers in the ALCS, rounded out the top five.
Disagree with your fellow fans? There's still time to rock the vote. Click here to read ESPNNewYork.com's top 10 list -- then click here to submit your pick.
