DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Defending Daytona 500 champion Jamie McMurray has finalized a multiyear deal with Earnhardt Ganassi Racing, his agent confirmed on Wednesday.

ESPN.com reported in July after McMurray won the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis that EGR was in the process of negotiating a new deal. McMurray signed a one-year deal when he came to EGR from Roush Fenway Racing last season.

"I'm excited to get all the contract stuff out of the way," McMurray said. "I don't know if anyone really enjoys doing that but I'm happy to get that behind us."

McMurray's agent, Rod Moskowitz, said there never was a doubt that a new deal would be reached based on the driver's relationship with EGR and sponsors Bass Pro Shops and McDonald's.

McMurray won the two biggest races of the year, the Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400, in 2010 and finished second in the Southern 500 at Darlington and the Coke 600 in Charlotte, considered by many the next two biggest events.

The 2003 Sprint Cup rookie of the year also won the fall race at Charlotte and collected a career-high four poles.
