The Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Jeff Taffe from Rockford of the AHL and placed Ryan Johnson on injured reserve Saturday.

Taffe has 15 goals for the IceHogs to lead them in scoring. He was acquired from the Florida Panthers this past offseason.

Johnson was hit hard against the boards causing him to lose his helmet in the Hawks 4-3 overtime loss to the Dallas Stars on Friday. He left the game after two periods.

Afterwards, Joel Quenneville declared him day to day with an upper body injury but said he would be re-evaluated Sunday morning.

Taffe wore No. 23 when the Hawks lost to the Phoenix Coyotes 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night.
