A high school basketball legend in New York City, Hawkins, blackballed by the NBA, was forced to spend the prime years of his career with the short-lived ABL, the Harlem Globetrotters and the ABA. Interviews, photos and highlights bring into focus "the Hawk" who eventually made it to the NBA joining the Phoenix Suns in 1969.

Magic Johnson drives the lane and hits the baby-hook shot over Larry Bird, Robert Parrish and Kevin McHale to give the Lakers a one-point lead with two seconds remaining. Bird had a chance for the final heroics, but his jumper at the buzzer rimmed out, and the Lakers take a thrilling 107-106 victory. The Lakers go on the win the NBA title in six games.
