Jones Jumping Up

By Keil Moore

One of the biggest jumps in our Class of 2012 spring rankings was made by Jordan Jones of Desoto, Texas. Jones, who excelled last summer as a true point guard on DFW's 2012 Gold team, is now sharing a backcourt with recent Connecticut commit Moriah Jefferson. She's shown she has the ability to be effective when playing off the ball and she's proven she is more than capable to play on it.

Jordan Jones
Jordan Jones isn't a flashy player, but she is able to provide some much-needed leadership to her team.

As one of the key players on one of the premier summer teams in the country, Jones has developed a reputation for being a consistent and effective point guard. Her ability to impact a game as both a playmaker and play finisher gives her the ability to pick and choose when she will turn either mindset on or off. As a pure point guard, she has the tools to run a team to get high percentage shots in both the half court as well as in transition opportunities. One of the most effective aspects of her game is her ability to play in ball-screen situations, making the right read and getting the ball to teammates.

Maybe more than anything it's Jones competitive drive that separates her from other players in the class. She plays the game to win, plain and simple. She plays the game with a high intensity level on both sides of the ball and at times has the ability to will a team to victory. Her natural basketball instincts and mindset for the game complement what is a refined but evolving skill set that puts her in the elite class of point guards for the Class of 2012.
