Marion Bartoli, Andrea Petkovic win

STRASBOURG, France -- Top-seeded Marion Bartoli and Andrea Petkovic reached the second round of the Strasbourg International with straight-sets wins Tuesday.

Bartoli overcame problems with her serve to defeat 40-year-old Kimiko Date-Krumm 6-2, 6-1, breaking the Japanese veteran six times.

She will play Elena Baltacha of Britain, who led 6-3 when Magdalena Rybarikova of Slovakia retired.

The second-seeded Petkovic cruised past Anna-Lena Groenefeld 6-3, 6-1 in an all-German contest.

Two Americans lost their matches. Lucie Hradecka defeated qualifier Ahsha Rolle 6-3, 6-4, and Mirjana Lucic edged Christina McHale 7-5, 7-6 (7).

Alize Cornet prevailed 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 over Sania Mirza.
