Coach charged with sexual assault
By Scott Powers
Crete-Monee (Ill.) High School varsity boys basketball coach Matt Ryndak was arrested Wednesday and charged with eight counts of aggravated sexual criminal assault against a minor, according to Crete police chief James Paoletti.
Ryndak was put on administrative leave from Crete-Monee earlier this month at the start of an investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. The investigation lasted three weeks, and a warrant was issued by Will County, according to Paoletti.
No details of the victim were released.
"There's no evidence that the alleged crime happened at the school," Paoletti said.
Ryndak's bond was set at $100,000.
Ryndak coached Crete-Monee to a 25-4 record and a sectional championship during the 2010-2011 season. It was Ryndak's first season as the team's head coach. He was a Crete-Monee assistant coach the previous season.
