U.S. opens with 115-60 rout of Egypt
LIEPAJA, Latvia -- The United States opened defense of the FIBA Under 19 World Championships gold medal by scoring the first 22 points of a 115-60 victory over Egypt on Thursday.
Doug McDermott of Creighton had 19 points to lead the U.S., which had all 12 players score.
Joe Jackson of Memphis and Jeremy Lamb of national champion Connecticut both had 15 points for the U.S., which plays Serbia on Friday.
Meyers Leonard of Illinois had 11 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots.
Jackson, Lamb and McDermott all had three 3-pointers as the U.S. finished 13-of-24 from behind the arc.
