It's not often sports fans get to witness two iconic moments in the same weekend. It was a treat, then, to watch Derek Jeter notch his 3,000th hit the day before the U.S. women's soccer squad pulled off an improbable, dramatic victory over Brazil.
Normally, a last-second come-from-behind win in extra time would produce a clear-cut No. 1 performer for our panel members, but the U.S. women had a handful of heroes. Was Hope Solo's save more valuable than Ali Krieger's PK? Should Abby Wambach's clutch header lose "power" points to either of them? Does any of it matter when stacked against a career milestone like 3,000 hits?
Tell us what you think. Did the U.S. women suffer from splitting votes, or was DJ3K always bound to have the top spot? Sound off in the comments section below!
Our all-star panel: John Buccigross, Robert Flores, DJ Gallo, Dana Jacobson, Jim Basquil, Kevin Connors, Will Selva, Jeff MacGregor and Trey Wingo.
