Red Bull X-Fighters tour leader Andre Villa broke his femur during his qualifier run at the X-Fighters fifth stop in Poznan, Poland on Thursday. Red Bull officials reported in a press release that the 29-year-old Norwegian was injured when his bike under-rotated in the middle of a backflip on his final qualifying run. Villa tried to jump off in mid-air, but was unable to separate himself from the bike and came down hard on his legs. He was taken to hospital where it was confirmed that his femur was broken.

"Andre is okay, conscious, but the femur is broken," reported Villa's girlfriend Micha Thyge from his Twitter account. "'You're not a man before you break your femur,' he used to say. I love my man."

"We're all wishing a speedy recovery for Andre," said three-time X-Fighters champion Nate Adams, expressing all the tour riders' sympathy for their competitor and friend. Adams qualified first on Thursday after Villa's crash.

Leading by a mere five points coming into the fifth round of the Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour, Villa was not a shoo-in for the 2011 World Tour title, but he was in a solid, competitive position. The finals will commence without Villa on Saturday night, before the tour finishes up in Sydney, Australia.
