White Sox release Brian Bruney

Associated Press

CHICAGO -- The Chicago White Sox have released pitcher Brian Bruney after the right-hander cleared waivers and rejected an outright assignment to Triple-A Charlotte.

The White Sox announced the move on Monday.

The 29-year-old Bruney was 1-0 with a 6.86 ERA in 23 relief appearances with the White Sox this season before being designated for assignment on Aug. 6. He signed with Chicago in December.
