By Todd Archer and Tim MacMahon
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice Wednesday because of a thigh contusion as the Dallas Cowboys begin preparations for Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Bryant suffered the injury during Sunday's game vs. the New York Jets and was riding a bike during Wednesday's practice at Cowboys Stadium.
Cornerback Terence Newman, who had hoped to practice after six weeks of recovering from a groin injury, also was not participating Wednesday.
Cornerback Mike Jenkins (knee, shoulder, stinger) is in uniform but did not take part in the early part of practice open to the media. Tight end Martellus Bennett returned to practice after missing the Jets game with a high ankle sprain.
Derrick Dockery worked with the first team at left guard in the early portion of practice. Rookie Bill Nagy started last week vs. the Jets.
Cornerback Orlando Scandrick, who suffered a high ankle sprain against the Jets, is not practicing and will not play Sunday.
