Rookie Watch: Thomas picking up steam

The Dolphins have found something in Daniel Thomas. With two strong games in a row, Thomas is Miami's feature back -- which is what he was drafted to be.

A big, powerful runner with light feet and good agility, he is built to carry the load and brings a much-needed physicality to the Dolphins' offense. He is also coming along as a receiver, as shown by his touchdown on a screen pass last week. In all, Thomas racked up 122 total yards on the road against the Browns -- a defense that has two massive interior run-stuffing defensive tackles.

Thomas is quickly developing into Miami offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's version of Peyton Hillis, whom he coached last year in Cleveland. And Thomas' emergence puts Reggie Bush where he is best suited -- as a specialty player.
