DePaul junior forward Tony Freeland and freshman guard Macari Brooks will not play this season, the school announced Friday.
Freeland will miss the season because of instability in his right shoulder. He has averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per game in his two seasons with the Blue Demons. He will have two years of eligibility remaining after medically redshirting this season.
Brooks, who played at Rich South High School, will not play this season because he was not cleared by the NCAA. Brooks received partial relief through the waiver process after his initial eligibility was denied by the NCAA Eligibility Center. This ruling allows Brooks to attend DePaul with full financial aid, but not compete this season. He is expected to play next season.Scott Powers covers college sports for ESPNChicago.com.
