Cowboys' Bill Nagy likely out for season

By Calvin Watkins

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The Dallas Cowboys are dealing with injuries to two offensive starters with one apparently season-ending.

Rookie left guard Bill Nagy suffered a fractured ankle and most likely will be lost for the season, team owner and general manager Jerry Jones said after the Cowboys' 20-16 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon.

Running back Felix Jones suffered a high-ankle sprain in the first half and didn't play the rest of the game. Jerry Jones said Felix Jones most likely will miss next week's game against the St. Louis Rams.

More tests need to be done on both players, but losing two starters following a loss is a critical blow to a Cowboys team mired in a two-game losing streak.

"I am concerned," Jerry Jones said regarding his starting running back.

Without Jones, rookie DeMarco Murray and Tashard Choice took over the running back duties against the Patriots. Murray finished with 32 yards on just 10 carries in the loss, and Choice added 14 yards on five carries.

Who starts next week is uncertain, however, Murray was inserted into the game before Choice against the Patriots.

"I'm just going to continue doing what I've been doing and that's work hard," Murray said. "When given the opportunity when I'm in there is to try and make plays. I think Felix will make a full recovery, and I think he'll be fine. He's a tough guy and a fighter. He will continue to work hard."

Jones was already playing with a dislocated shoulder suffered in the Week 2 victory at San Francisco but played through it.

Now it appears this latest injury will keep him out.

Nagy was replaced by another rookie, Kevin Kowalski, who is also the backup center. The Cowboys have a veteran guard in Derrick Dockery, but he's out with a sprained MCL and a slight fracture of his leg suffered against the 49ers.

It's not known if Dockery will return to practice this week and if not, it creates some depth issues along the offensive line with the trade deadline approaching on Tuesday.
