On Saturday, following what many believe to be one of the craziest BMX Park runs in the history of the Dew Tour, Jackson, N.J.'s own Scotty Cranmer was awarded first place and the year-end Dew Cup in BMX Park for 2011. According to Cranmer, 24, he decided to make some changes in life -- changes that would ultimately lead to a more successful season on the competition circuit. "I remember last year, coming into this, wanting to change the way I've been viewed as a professional rider. I'm still young, I'm only 24, but I didn't want to let this time pass me by," said Cranmer.
To that end, he decided to take his riding to another level, with the endpoint being fun, but also putting forth his best efforts. "I found myself again, and set goals," he added.
This year, Cranmer's renewed focus was evident from the very start, a web video produced by Monster Energy Drink. "I went into this season with the goal of being the bike rider I've been seen as being. I became more positive on and off my bike, and it's helped me mold myself into the person I want to be," says Cranmer.
That momentum continued into a stellar performance on the Dew Tour (fourth place in Ocean City, first in Portland, first in Las Vegas), a Bronze Medal at X Games 17, and now, the year-end 2011 Dew Cup for BMX Park.
"I'm blown away," said Cranmer, and suffice to say, so is the rest of BMX. Congratulations to Scotty Cranmer on yet another successful season.
