PASADENA, Calif. -- UCLA safety Dietrich Riley was moving his arms and gave a hand sign as he was carted off the field after a scary collision in the fourth quarter of the Bruins' 31-14 victory over California on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.

Riley lay motionless on the ground for a few minutes and was taken off on a stretcher after making a tackle on California running back Isi Sofele with 10:41 left in the game.

He was taken to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena for tests. Coach Rick Neuheisel said "all signs are positive."

"Not all tests are back yet, but every test that's back is negative and that's good news," Neuheisel said. "He was in great spirits when he left the field."

Neuheisel wasn't clear on the exact nature of the injury, only that it involved the neck.

"I don't want to say more than I should, but I think it was a stinger where he felt like he couldn't feel something and then it came back," Neuheisel said.
