Editor's note: These rankings were released Nov. 27.
Here's how the Inside College Hockey editors and staff rank the nation's top teams (along with a note for each team).
Of note: When Merrimack hosted Alabama-Huntsville on Wednesday, it was a meeting of the only unbeaten team in the country against the only winless team in the country. Both teams stayed that way after a 6-0 Merrimack victory.
Of note: Lake Superior State snapped the Fighting Irish's 11-game unbeaten streak this weekend, scoring three power-play goals in Saturday's 5-2 win.
Of note: The Eagles trailed by a goal and were killing a penalty with three minutes left in Saturday's game at Yale, but a short-handed tally by Barry Almeida tied it with 2:19 remaining. Chris Kreider scored the game-winner with 39 seconds left.
Of note: A winless weekend at Michigan State wasn't desirable, but the good news was that Zach Budish and Erik Haula ended goal droughts of seven and eight games, respectively, in Saturday's tie.
Of note: Keep those bags packed: The Bulldogs have eight straight road games between now and Jan. 14, and no games at Amsoil Arena until Jan. 20.
Of note: Looks like there's a new No. 1 goalie in the Springs: Sophomore Josh Thorimbert has backstopped the Tigers to wins in each of his last three starts, stopping 110 of the 115 shots he's faced.
Of note: The Bulldogs, fourth place in the CCHA standings, can put some distance between themselves and fifth-place Western Michigan this weekend; the two teams play a home-and-home series starting in Big Rapids Friday.
Of note: Lake Superior State, the team that ended Notre Dame's 11-game unbeaten streak this past weekend, will try to curtail the Buckeyes' seven-game win streak and nine-game unbeaten run this weekend in Columbus.
Of note: Union started quickly against Michigan, as the Dutchmen built a 4-0 lead in the 6-3 win. It's not that big of a surprise, considering Union is 5-1-2 when scoring first and has outscored opponents 21-11 in the first period this season.
Of note: The Raiders are on a pretty good run over the last four months of college hockey. They won eight games last season in February and March, and totaled nine victories through October and November this season.
Of note: The Pioneers wrapped up a seven-game home stand by splitting a pair of games in their annual Denver Cup. Saturday, DU starts a stretch of five straight on the road when it travels to Colorado College.
Of note: Yale goalies Jeff Malcolm and Nick Maricic combined to stop just 12 of 19 Sacred Heart shots in a startling 7-6 upset on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs had 53 shots on goal.
Of note: The Broncos are 0-4-1 since beating Michigan at Yost Arena on Nov. 4. Incidentally, the Wolverines are 0-5-1 since beating Western at Yost on Nov. 5.
Of note: Each of the Lakers' top seven scorers -- Nick McPartland, Domenic Monardo, Kyle Jean, Zach Trotman, Colin Campbell, Kyle Haines, and Fred Cassiani -- registered at least one point in Saturday's 5-2 win over Notre Dame.
Of note: We appreciate the enthusiasm, Ross Gaudet, and nice job with the deflection on the overtime goal against Cornell at Madison Square Garden. But please, on the celebration Tebowing was so three weeks ago.
Of note: In five games since sitting out the RedHawks' Nov. 11 win against Michigan, freshman forward Austin Czarnik has three goals and six assists including a goal and three assists in wins against Providence and Denver this past weekend.
Of note: Cornell has won its last three home games by shutout and welcomes St. Lawrence and Clarkson to Lynah this weekend. Clarkson, of course, is coached by Cornell alum and former Big Red assistant Casey Jones.
Of note: One key to success against high-scoring Minnesota -- force it to come from behind. In their win and tie against the Gophers, the Spartans trailed for a grand total of 113 seconds.
Of note: A key seven-game stretch for the Huskies starts this weekend with a home series against UMD. Two games at Minnesota, a single game at Northern Michigan, and Great Lakes Invitiational dates against Michigan State and either Michigan or Boston College follow.
Of note: Terry Broadhurst, the Mavs' leading scorer, recorded two goals and two assists in a win and tie against St. Cloud State. In his last six games, he's scored six goals and two assists.
Dropped out: Michigan
Bubblelicious: Clarkson, UMass Lowell, Michigan
