Tampa Am preview: top ams to watch for

The street course at the Skatepark of Tampa has undergone its annual redesign, and amateur riders are pouring in from all over the globe to try their luck at the biggest am-jam of the year, Florida's Tampa Am contest.

Tampa Am remains the litmus test for the best ams in the world, and the finals of the annual comp are often a solid representation of the best up-and-coming skaters (or soon-to-be-pro skaters) around. ESPN Skateboarding's Andrew Cannon will be in Tampa all weekend bringing updates from the events as they unfold. But for now, let's take a look at 13 of the top contenders going into the weekend, each of whom could easily win the event.

Editor's note: Ishod Wair and Felipe Gustavo have been omitted from this list on purpose. In this reporter's opinion, these two should have pro status already. If Wair and Gustavo don't have signature boards out by the end of the year, I'll be shocked.

Tune in Sunday to the Skatepark of Tampa's website for the live webcast from finals.
