MIAMI -- Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland says interim coach Todd Bowles will have the chance to interview for the full-time position after the season.

"He absolutely will -- when that will happen, I'm not sure, but he will interview to be the head coach of the Dolphins," Ireland said Sunday. "I've been in the meetings with him -- I've seen him interact with the players and coaches and the press. He's done a phenomenal job."

Ireland said the Dolphins are taking the head coach search day by day. According to multiple media reports, the Dolphins have interest in former head coaches Jeff Fisher and Brian Billick.

A source close to Bowles said he could interview as early as Monday. Bowles' agent, Tony Agnone, is flying to Miami on Sunday to be with him throughout the process, according to a source.

Bowles, who is African-American, will also satisfy the Rooney Rule, which requires teams to interview at least one minority candidate for open head-coaching positions.
