Police still investigating fight

A man who identified himself on a Philadelphia Flyers' fan forum on Facebook and claimed he took part in the beating of a New York Rangers fan was interviewed Thursday and subsequently released.

A source told ESPNNewYork.com that the man's statements were only a prank and he was not involved in the melee following the Winter Classic on Monday.

A Philadelphia police spokesperson said Friday that the investigation of the fight is ongoing. The South division is still soliciting tips or any smartphone evidence to learn more about the incident.

A graphic video shows three suspects wearing Flyers jerseys beating and kicking the two victims outside Geno's Steaks in South Philly at 7:15 p.m. ET.

One of the victims was an off-duty Woodbridge, N.J., police officer, according to Woodbridge Township spokesman John Hagerty. NBC New York identified him as Neal Auricchio, 30, who the station says also served as a Marine in Iraq.

He was released from the hospital after receiving stitches and is on medical leave from the Woodbridge Police Department.
