A day before the athletic events begin, a joint charity event between the V Foundation for Cancer Research and Boarding for Breast Cancer will officially kick off Winter X Games 2012 on Wednesday in Aspen, Colo.

Guests can interact with Winter X Games athletes, enjoy a musical performance from Operations Jazz Duet and fireside food and drinks during the event to benefit cancer research, awareness and education at the Winter X Games Aspen 2012 Kick-Off Bash at the St. Regis Hotel. A silent auction will include autographed items from Shaun White, Torah Bright, Travis Pastrana and Tucker Hibbert; snowboards; a spa day; experience with an iconic athlete and more.

"We couldn't be more excited to team up with The V Foundation and Boarding for Breast Cancer once again for this terrific evening," ESPN's Chris Stiepock, vice president, content and sponsorship development, said in a release. "We thank Aspen and the entire community for their continuous support, and I can't think of a better way to kick off Winter X Games 2012 than raising money for a great cause."

Attendees will receive a gift bag, dine on gourmet appetizers and from the St. Regis famous S'mores Station and enjoy beverages courtesy of Gnarly Head Wine, Stone and Avery Brewing, Pearl Vodka and El Mayor Tequila. Winter X Games athletes expected to attend include Kelly Clark, Bobby Brown, Jen Hudak, Spencer O'Brien and many more.

This fourth annual event will take place from 5-8 p.m. in the Smuggler Room and Foundation Courtyard at the St. Regis Hotel in downtown Aspen. Tickets are $75 if purchased in advance online at www.bellyupaspen.com or in person at the Belly Up Aspen box office. Tickets purchased at the door are $100.

Since 1993, the V Foundation for Cancer Research has raised more than $115 million to fund cancer research grants nationwide. It awards 100 percent of all direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs. Administrative and fundraising expenses are paid by the Foundation's endowment. For more information on The V Foundation or to make a donation, visit www.jimmyv.org.
