Deng injured his wrist in the fourth quarter of the Bulls' win over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday night. He asked Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau to take him out of the game so that he could be examined by trainers.
Deng had an x-ray after the game which was negative, but he wore a huge ice pack on the wrist in the locker room.
"I just got hit on it, but it will be fine," Deng said Saturday night.
Deng is one of several Bulls dealing with injuries at the moment.
Point guard Derrick Rose is still dealing with a painful turf toe injury which has caused him to miss the past four games. He will once again be a game time decision before Monday night's contest with the New Jersey Nets.Joakim Noah missed Saturday night's contest as well because of an ankle injury he suffered in Friday night's win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, but he sounded optimistic about a return against the Nets. Bulls forward Taj Gibson is a different story. He spent Saturday night in a walking boot after injuring his ankle on Friday night. He said the injury was a high ankle sprain and he could not put any weight on it in the locker room on Saturday night.
"We can't even put a timeline on it," Gibson said Saturday night. "Hopefully this thing goes away in the next couple of days, or I can get some feeling back so I can play. But right now it's about icing. That's the best thing I can hope for right now."
Bulls point guard John Lucas III missed Saturday's game because of a groin injury, but that seemed to be more of a precaution. The backup point guard appeared to be moving fine on his way out of the United Center on Saturday night.Nick Friedell covers the Bulls for ESPNChicago.com.
