On Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Wednesday, Jan. 25, the ESPN Fantasy team is holding its annual fantasy baseball rankings summit. For two days, the team gathers in beautiful Bristol, Conn., to evaluate the upside and downside of hundreds of players. We'll determine how recent trades affected values and analyze why one sleeper is better than another. At the end of it, we come out of the room with the framework of our rankings and projections. It's not always fun and games, but we know that you take your fantasy baseball team seriously and we aren't going to let you down with our initial rankings.
The best part about the entire process isn't the spirited debates or occasional insults thrown about, but the fact that for the second year in a row, we're bringing you into the room with us. For these two days we're offering you, the fan, a glimpse into our process. In the application below, you'll have the opportunity to make your voice heard and tell us why you think a player should be ranked at the top of his position. You'll be able to see videos straight from the room addressing your questions and even get a sneak preview of some of the final rankings.
Insiders, we're also giving you something special. After each position has been completed, a group of analysts inside the room will get together and offer a podcast with their instant reactions. Take a listen and let us know your opinions: C | 1B | 2B | 3B | SS | OF | SP | RP | Prince Fielder signing reaction
Click on the application below and join the chat. Your fantasy baseball season starts right here and we hope you enjoy the ride.Note: All rankings are based on standard 5x5 scoring (AVG, HRs, RBIs, Runs, SBs for hitters; Wins, Saves, Strikeouts, ERA and WHIP for pitchers) and all players are ranked based on where they are eligible on draft day in 2012. For instance, Hanley Ramirez is eligible only at shortstop in ESPN leagues and therefore is not ranked at third base. He would gain 3B eligibility after playing 10 games there this season.
