We've broken down the state's top 20 players into two teams -- one of position players and one of pitchers. Keep in mind, these preseason selections were determined by a combination of in-season performance and recruit rankings.

Willie Burger, New Canaan, SS/3B, Sophomore
Led team in batting as freshman with .487 average.

Joe Burns, St. Joseph, C/RHP, Senior
Has signed to play at St. John's next year.

Andrew Casali, New Canaan, OF/RHP, Junior
Hit .435 last year; one of best outfield arms in the state.

Matt Ederle, Norwalk, C, Senior
Tough-minded backstop hit over .500 last year.

Alexis Guadalupe, St. Joseph, OF, Senior
Batted .463 with three homers and 26 RBIs as a junior.

Brett Madore, Xavier, SS/RHP, Senior
Could become a dominant two-way player this season.

Thomas Milone, Masuk, OF, Junior
Speedster is smooth in the outfield, powerful at the plate.

Posted a 1.50 ERA and struck out 73 batters a year ago.

Gary Flowers, Notre Dame-West Haven, RHP, Senior
Led Green Knights to a state championship last year.

Tre Gonzalez, Montville, LHP, Senior
Pitched Indians to a 1-0 win in last year's Class M title game.
