Jonathan Toews in car accident
By Jesse Rogers
CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who already was going to miss Thursday's game because of an upper-body injury, was involved in a minor car accident, according to a team spokesman.
"Jonathan Toews was in a minor one-car collision in downtown Chicago this morning while driving himself to the United Center," a team spokesman said. "He was not injured."
It will be the second consecutive game Toews missed.
"He's progressing," coach Joel Quenneville said after the team skate Thursday morning. "I guess we'll say that's where we're at."
Quenneville was noncommittal when asked if Toews would accompany the team to the West Coast for a weekend set of games.
Defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson, meanwhile, will dress against the Dallas Stars. Hjalmarsson has missed the past seven games with an upper-body injury.
Defenseman Steve Montador remains out with what is believed to be concussion-like symptoms. He has missed the past seven games as well.
"Be nice to give you a timeline on it but we don't have the precise forecast of exactly where it is," Quenneville said. "He's starting to feel better. Hoping not too long."
But Quenneville didn't rule out the possibility of Montador missing the rest of the regular season.
The Blackhawks are looking for their fifth consecutive win. Corey Crawford starts in net for Chicago; backup Richard Bachman will start for Dallas.
