Sebastien Caron signs in Tampa

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Sebastien Caron for the remainder of the season, the team announced Monday.

The deal is worth $525,000 but is pro-rated for the remainder of the season, a source told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

Caron could join the Lightning if he clears waivers at noon on Tuesday, the Lightning said.

Caron played with Iserlohn of the German Elite League this season, posting a 25-23-0 record with a 2.57 goals against average and .932 save percentage

He last appeared in the NHL in 2006-07, in one game each for the Anaheim Ducks and Chicago Blackhawks. He played in 90 games over three seasons for the Pittsburgh Penguins, who drafted him in 1999.

For his NHL career, Caron has a 25-47-5 record with a 3.45 goals-against average and .892 save percentage.
