Former NBA and college coach Dick Versace said Wednesday he has pulled his name from consideration for Eastern Illinois' coaching vacancy.
"My research made me decide I wasn't interested," Versace said. "I researched it thoroughly and just came to the conclusion."
Versace declined to explain his decision.
Versace told ESPNChicago.com on Monday he was contemplating a coaching comeback and was researching Eastern Illinois, which fired Mike Miller on Feb. 27 after seven seasons.
Versace, 71, last coached as an Milwaukee Bucks assistant in 1998. He also was previously the head coach for the Indiana Pacers and Bradley University, general manager for the Vancouver Grizzlies and a television commentator.
Versace isn't counting out a coaching comeback elsewhere.
"I'm actually looking at some other things," Versace said. "We'll see what it brings."
