DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose did some running in a pool Friday and did some light shooting after practice as he continues his comeback from a groin injury, coach Tom Thibodeau said.

Rose also will run on the court for the first time since suffering the injury March 12 against the New York Knicks when he had his shot blocked by Jeremy Lin.

"Derrick was better today," Thibodeau said. "He did part of practice. We just have to have him keep making the progress that he is and hopefully he'll be healthy soon."

Thibodeau described Rose as "day to day" and did not sound optimistic Rose will play Saturday against the Toronto Raptors. Rose has missed the past five games.

Rip Hamilton, who hasn't played since March 5, also is nearing his return from a shoulder injury. Hamilton was a full participant in the team's noncontact practice. "Yeah, well, he's moving along," Thibodeau said. "We haven't done contact with him yet so that will be the next step."

Thibodeau didn't give an exact timetable for Hamilton's return.

The Bulls will take on the Raptors in the back end of a home-and-home.
