One month after returning to racing following a knee injury in the summer of 2011, Connor Fields managed to make it into the main event at the World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark, and placed seventh. According to Fields, the injury was a "Blessing in disguise," because it forced him to take a break and realize what he had been missing. Last October, Fields returned to the top of the podium, winning the 2011 UCI Supercross event in Chula Vista, Calif. Not only did he take home the win in the Men's Final, Fields also managed to have the best time and take the win in the Super Time Trials.
This past weekend at the first UCI Supercross event of the year in Chula Vista, Fields managed to win again, beating his competitors in the time trial by a full second, and once again showing the Elite Men the fastest lines around the track. Fields now sits at the top of the points bracket for 2012, and is poised to make his first appearance at the 2012 London Games this summer. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves, we caught up with Fields in Chula Vista to get some insight on his race game and his immediate plans going forward.
