Champ Kentucky finishes No. 1

Kentucky finished atop the final ESPN/USA Today men's basketball coaches' poll of the 2011-12 season on Tuesday after defeating Kansas 67-59 in Monday night's national title game.

The Wildcats, who entered the NCAA tournament ranked No. 1, garnered all 31 first-place votes after finishing 38-2 and winning the eighth national title in school history.

The runner-up Jayhawks (32-7) were ranked No. 2, followed by fellow Final Four teams Ohio State (31-8) and Louisville (30-10). The Cardinals were ranked 18th entering the tournament.

Syracuse (34-3) was No. 5, followed by North Carolina (32-6), Michigan State (29-8), Baylor (30-8), Florida (26-11) and Marquette (27-8) to round out the top 10.

Missouri (30-5), ranked third before the tourney, fell to No. 11 after being upset by No. 15-seeded Norfolk State in the second round of the tournament.

Wisconsin (26-10) was ranked No. 12, followed by Indiana (27-9), Duke (27-7), Florida State (25-10), Murray State (31-2), Georgetown (24-9), Cincinnati (26-11), Vanderbilt (25-11) and North Carolina State (24-13) to round out the top 20.

The Bearcats and Wolfpack were not ranked before the tournament.

Creighton (29-6) was No. 21, with Michigan (24-10), New Mexico (28-7), Xavier (23-13) and Ohio (29-8) finishing the top 25. The Musketeers and Bobcats were unranked before the tourney.

Dropping out from the rankings were St. Mary's, Wichita State, San Diego State and UNLV.
