Dave McDermott and spot-based street

Dave McDermott, at home in Orlando, Fla. Launch Gallery »

There are street riders, and then there is Dave McDermott. Hailing from the Orlando, Fla. area and riding for Skavenger, Animal and 90east, Dave McDermott pursues a creative spot-based form of street riding that combines a unique eye for setups, grinds on both sides of the bike and a casual feel to lines that might take some other people hours to ride away from. I was already familiar with the name Dave McDermott before the Skavenger video arrived this past December, but I was amazed at the direction he was going with his riding after watching the video. Without even really knowing Dave well, I could tell that he probably spent more time looking for spots than riding spots, that he was riding creatively without any outside influence, and that he was pushing the boundaries of a new spot-based movement in street riding. Recently, Mike Cottle of the Orlando area sent over some new photos of Dave, and because we didn't pay nearly enough tribute to Dave after the Skavenger video was released, we're spotlighting Dave McDermott on home turf in Orlando, Fla. today.
