Adams will miss Wednesday's Game 4 in Philadelphia.
Adams went after Flyers forward Scott Hartnell late in the third period of Game 3. Hartnell was involved in an altercation with Sidney Crosby when Adams intervened. He yanked Hartnell's hair and the two started fighting.
Adams was assessed a minor penalty for instigating, a major penalty for fighting and a game misconduct.
Meanwhile, Pittsburgh forwards Arron Asham and James Neal also face suspensions for their roles in various fights.
Asham cross-checked Flyers forward Brayden Schenn in the upper body. Asham then jumped a defenseless Schenn and connected with a vicious right and was ejected.
Neal flattened Game 2 star Sean Couturier in the waning minutes and sent the Flyers' rookie center to the locker room. Neal also targeted Giroux with an elbow to the head.
There were 158 penalty minutes in Sunday's tilt.
"They weren't trying to hit to be effective," Hartnell said Monday, "They were hitting to hurt."
Giroux called Neal's failed attempt to take him out "dirty."
The Flyers lead the best-of-seven series 3-0.
