ECNL U16 Power Rankings

By Sheldon Shealer & Chris Ackels

Slammers sits at No. 3 in ESPNHS ECNL Under-16 Power Ratings this week, though the team holds the top spot mathematically in Flight A. Throughout the rest of the season, Slammers will have a chance to earn the top spot in the power rankings as well.

ESPNHS continues our weekly look at the top ECNL teams in each age group. This week, for the first time, we rank our top 10 teams in the ESPNHS ECNL Under-16 Power Rankings.

At U16, the top two spots stay the same while the previously third- and fourth-ranked teams were replaced by a few hot squads. PDA, still early in the season, has earned the No. 5 spot after being undefeated through 11 games. Dallas Sting comes in at No. 9, and though the team doesn't have a high quality win this season, it will get a chance to prove themselves in May.

Perhaps most surprising team in this week's ranking is No. 4 FC DELCO, a Flight B squad that finds itself in the elite ranks of even Flight A squads. FC DELCO is undefeated against top-tier opponents and in first place in a Mid-Atlantic Conference that includes four Flight A teams.

Throughout the rest of the season, ESPNHS will offer a weekly glance at the top ten teams in each age group. These rankings, indicative of the results of a team rather than a prediction of future outcomes, offer a sampling of some of the top talent in the game.

This Weekend's Top Ten Matchups:
No. 4 FC DELCO vs. Connecticut FC
No. 5 PDA vs. World Class
No. 7 SoCal Blues vs. Washington Premier
No. 9 Dallas Sting vs. Dallas Texans

2011-12 Elite Clubs National League Power Rankings: Under-16

The defending ECNL National Champions have a resume that includes big wins over Dallas Sting, Michigan Hawks and Solar-Chelsea. Three games remain as it aims for the top overall seed.

The Michigan Hawks have earned one of the bottom spots in the top 10 thanks to wins over Eclipse Select and No. 9 Dallas Sting. Like Atlanta Fire, their idle status makes them liable for movement.
