ECNL U16 Power Rankings

By Sheldon Shealer & Chris Ackels

There's a new name in this week's ESPNHS ECNL U-16 Power Rankings, as West Coast FC takes over the No. 10 spot after Mustang dropped two games last weekend. West Coast narrowly beat out San Diego Surf for the last spot in our rankings, but Surf will have a chance to prove themselves this weekend when the two teams meet up Sunday.

All other rankings hold steady this week as the top 10 teams went a combined 2-1-3. This coming weekend though, there will be lots of moving and shaking as six top 10 teams are in action.

Of note is the matchup between No. 3 Slammers and No. 5 So Cal Blues, slated for the So Cal Blues facility in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., this Sunday. Slammers holds first place in both the So Cal Conference and in National Flight A standings. So Cal Blues sits right behind them in second place in both categories and a win this weekend would catapult them to the top spot. So Cal Blues won the first matchup back in October by a score of 1-0, thanks to a goal from Stephanie Malherbe. This weekend's match has so much at stake.

Throughout the rest of the season, ESPNHS will offer a weekly glance at the top 10 teams in each age group. These rankings, indicative of the results of a team rather than a prediction of future outcomes, offer a sampling of some of the top talent in the game.
