CHICAGO -- Wrigley Field will welcome the return of soccer this summer when Italy's AS Roma and Poland's Zaglebie Lubin face off in an international friendly at 2:30 p.m. CT July 22.

Dubbed the "Friendly and the Confines," it will be the first soccer match at the nearly 100-year-old ballpark since the Chicago Sting beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in 1984.

Roma, whose new ownership group hails from the Boston area, also will play matches in Boston and New York.

The day coincides with Ron Santo's Hall of Fame posthumous induction ceremony in Cooperstown, N.Y. The Cubs also announced that the club will have Santo tributes that day at Wrigley Field, with more information to be announced later.

Tickets for the soccer match will go on sale May 24 at 10 a.m. CST at www.cubs.com/soccer. Ticket prices will range from $25 to $100, with the majority of seats listed at $50 or less.

The field will run from the third-base dugout to the right-field wall, the same as the football field did for the 2010 game between Northwestern and Illinois.
