ECNL U16 Power Rankings

By Sheldon Shealer & Chris Ackels

For the first time at any age group, there is no movement in the ESPNHS ECNL U-16 Power Rankings this week. Four teams were in action last weekend, and with no losses and no significant wins, it seemed the rankings were proven on the field.

No. 3 Slammers and No. 5 So Cal Blues played to a 1-1 draw Sunday, which means Slammers holds on to the top spot in the So Cal Conference and in National Flight A. They also hold steady at No. 3 in our rankings. Mackenzie Cerda netted the Slammers goal off an assist from midfielder Nichole Walts. It was Nicole Miyashiro who found the net for So Cal Blues. Both teams are headed to the PDA Showcase later this month.

This weekend's biggest matchup takes place in Dallas as No. 2 Lonestar takes on No. 7 Dallas Sting. Lonestar won the first matchup back in September 1-0 thanks to a Katherine Uhler goal, and this time around the top spot in the Texas Conference is at stake when the two go head to head on Saturday.

Throughout the rest of the season, ESPNHS will offer a weekly glance at the top ten teams in each age group. These rankings, indicative of the results of a team rather than a prediction of future outcomes, offer a sampling of some of the top talent in the game.

This Weekend's Top Ten Matches
No. 2 Lonestar vs. No. 7 Dallas Sting
No. 4 PDA vs. Scorpions
No. 5 So Cal Blues vs. Eagles
No. 9 FC DELCO vs. FC Bucks
No. 10 West Coast vs. Arsenal

2011-12 Elite Clubs National League Power Rankings: Under-16

Last Week: 1
This is a strong team with a strong resume. But No. 2 through No. 5 play some pretty high profile games in the coming weeks, so they could be at risk to lose ground.
Next Match: Playoffs, TBA
Lonestar SC

Last Week: 2
The defending champs were rained out in Dallas last weekend, and they've got a big game with No. 7 Dallas Sting coming up this Saturday.
Next Match: May 19 vs. Dallas Sting

Last Week: 3
The 1-1 tie with No. 5 So Cal Blues was their only action of last weekend. They now prepare for PDA, which will conclude the regular season schedule.
Next Match: May 26 at PDA Showcase

Last Week: 4
A 2-0 win over Connecticut and a 5-0 win over SoccerPlus kept PDA's unbeaten streak alive. They've got one game with Scorpions this weekend before hosting next weekend's festivities.
Next Match: May 20 vs. Scorpions
SoCal Blues

Last Week: 5
Two ties (1-1 with No. 3 Slammers and 0-0 with Real So Cal) mean Blues hold its ground this week. The team still sits in second in the So Cal Conference and in National Flight A.
Next Match: May 19 vs. Eagles SC
Michigan Hawks

Last Week: 6
The Hawks are waiting to see how things play out, but they currently hold the No. 6 seed in Flight A. They'll wait and see what seed they get once playoff time rolls around.
Next Match: Playoffs, TBA
Dallas Sting

Last Week: 7
Rain tweaked the schedule last week for Sting, but the team is gearing up for a big match this weekend with No. 2 Lonestar. Winner likely takes home to Texas Conference crown.
Next Match: May 19 vs. Lonestar

Last Week: 8
FC DELCO sits atop the Mid-Atlantic Conference, which includes four Flight A squads. This Flight B team is squarely in our top 10.

Atlanta Fire plays the waiting game -- the team currently sits just on the doorstep of playoff eligibility with a month to play.

A tie with San Diego Surf means West Coast stays put. The team has one match with Arsenal FC before heading to New Jersey for the PDA Showcase next week.
