Dana White upbeat for rematch

It appears that UFC president Dana White won't have to look far to find the next opponent for heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

Shortly after dos Santos' impressive second-round TKO of Frank Mir on Saturday night at UFC 146 in Las Vegas, White expressed an interest in giving ex-titleholder Cain Velasquez a chance to regain the belt.

"I think it's a good idea. We like that fight," White said during the postfight news conference. "I like the fight. We'll see what happens."

Dos Santos, who successfully defended his title for the first time Saturday against Mir, claimed the belt Nov. 12 with an opening-round knockout of then-champ Velasquez. It is the lone defeat of Velasquez's professional career.

Velasquez stepped into the cage Saturday night for the first time since his loss and looked impressive. He improved to 10-1 with a first-round TKO of Antonio Silva in the UFC 146 co-main event.

Afterward, Velasquez made his pitch for a rematch with dos Santos, who is 15-1.

"The only reason I got into this sport was to be the champ." Velasquez said. "I just don't feel right with having (that title belt)."

White did not say when a potential dos Santos-Velasquez rematch would be held.
