Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp wants to return to the lineup for the team's first game after the All-Star break.
The Dodgers face the San Diego Padres on July 13.
The slugging center fielder, who plans to begin a rehab assignment before the break, is recovering from a strained left hamstring that landed him on the disabled list for a second time this season on May 31. The 2011 National League MVP runner-up first missed time from May 14-29.
The Dodgers have all but ruled Kemp out for the All-Star Game in Kansas City, but he is expected to participate as the NL captain for the Home Run Derby.
Kemp, who led the NL with 39 homers last season, said he already has his four-member team in place, although he declined to name the players other than saying he'll be one of them.Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
