Los Angeles Lakers owner Dr. Jerry Buss is a local Los Angeles hospital being treated for dehydration, Lakers spokesman John Black said in a statement released Tuesday.
"In response to media inquiries and to dispel rumors and inaccurate reports, we'd like to state that Dr. Buss is in a local hospital where he is being treated for dehydration. He is recovering and is expected to be released soon."
Buss, 78, has overseen 10 championships during his tenure as owner of the Lakers. While he no longer is active in the day-to-day operations of the team -- his son Jim Buss is in charge -- he's still a respected leader and one of the faces of the franchise.
Buss also was hospitalized in December because of blood clots in his legs caused by excessive travel.
