Travis Pastrana stopped by "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Monday night to promote his new film, "Nitro Circus 3D," which opens worldwide on August 8. "Nitro Circus 3D" had its world premiere last month with a red carpet event at Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Calif., the night before competition began at X Games 2012 Los Angeles.
"We took a couple years off and said, 'Look, let's do it bigger, let's do it better, and let's do stuff that we could never do,'" Pastrana said, introducing a clip from the film that features a massive BASE jump stunt from a skyscraper in Panama.
Leno -- a lifelong racing fan and renowned collector of cars and motorcycles -- also showed a clip from Pastrana's rally win at New Hampshire Motorspeedway last week, where he beat out Samuel Hubinette and Brian Deegan to top the podium for Round 4 of the Global RallyCross Championship tour, then asked about Pastrana's new NASCAR career.
"Honestly we do a lot better on the dirt," Pastran admitted to Leno. "But we're really starting to focus here on turning left. It's so simple it's impossibly complex."
Leno also asked about Pastrana's marriage to skateboarder Lyn-Z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, a three-time X Games gold medalist in Women's Skateboard Vert and star of the Nitro Circus Live tour who is the only female skater to have ridden the MegaRamp.
"They always say marriage is going to slow you down but it really hasn't," Pastrana told Leno. "She's encouraging me to do more crazy shenanigans."
Leno, who opened the segment with, "I'm glad you're still alive" and came armed with a laundry list of Pastrana's career injuries, closed out the segment with, "You're out of your mind, Travis."
