The United States women's national team couldn't possibly top its 2011 Women's World Cup quarterfinal win over Brazil for drama and heroics, right?

Oh, but they could. The Americans' thrilling 4-3 overtime win over Canada in the semifinals of the Olympic soccer tournament featured multiple lead changes, inspired performances by players on both sides, controversial calls and last-second drama, topped by Alex Morgan's game-winning goal in the final minute of extra time. The game commanded the attention of athletes and fans on both sides of the border. Here's a sampling of what they had to say:

FAN REACTION

Slow Cowboy: Exciting game. I feel for the Canadians, but at the end it almost seemed inevitable.

vman112012: Good game, great win, but the girls have to do better to beat Japan. Regroup and get ready for the gold medal game. And hats off to Canada for putting on a great performance.

roundhead00: Hat trick. 4 rapid goals. Comeback after comeback. Last second winner. Terrible refereering that changed the outcome. This game had everything except a fist fight and a streaker.

joeysmith57: Refs let them play all game long (as they should) & then make 2 bush-league calls in a row at the end for the Americans to tie. If I was Canadian, I would be upset as hell.
