College football is back, and Saturday's gridiron stars had the weekend to themselves before the NFL returns. There were plenty of outstanding performances from around the nation, but no one impressed our panel more than West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith. The Mountaineers' Heisman hopeful picked up right where he left off in January, throwing as many touchdowns as he had incompletions.
Smith's standout day put him on top of USC wide receiver Marqise Lee and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo, who'll probably be even sadder now that he's not No. 1. Hopefully he understands that our panel put the players in this order for professional reasons.
That's how our panel ranked them, but do you agree? Let your voice be heard in the comments, and if you impress the panel, you could be chosen as a guest ranker for next week.
