Earlier this year, Fly Bikes and Empire BMX pro Kevin Porter reminded us all of how skilled he is on a bike by grabbing the first section in Empire BMX's "Bad Idea" DVD and wrestling it into submission. Kevin's section was technical, innovative and even featured him drinking coffee with a mustache as the opening chords of "Video Killed the Radio Star" began. Maybe it's because Kevin has been really good on a bike for a long time, that I simply took it for granted. "Bad Idea" became the reminder to never do that again.
Now, with most riders, it's expected that they get a little bit of downtime following a full part in a DVD. Not Kevin Porter. Earlier this week, Kevin released a new web video for Empire that was good enough to make me nominate him for the first annual Ride BMX NORA Cup Reader's Choice Award. But it doesn't end there. Today, Kevin released another video for Empire BMX, and it's just as good as his "Bad Idea" part and the other web video from earlier this week (I embedded it above).
Porter recently made the move from Long Beach, Calif. back home to the Chicago, Ill. area, and picked up a new coffee sponsor in the process. Winter will be well on its way in just a few short weeks for him, but look for fifteen more videos from Kevin this fall.
