On Feb. 18 at the Dallas Supercross, Chad Reed crashed and tore his left ACL, broke his left tibia and fibula, broke two ribs and broke his vertebra T6 on Lap 7 as he was trying to catch race leader Ryan Villopoto in the main event.
Reed had entered the seventh round just six points out of the overall lead behind Villopoto, but the injuries prematurely ended the two-time champion's Monster Energy AMA Supercross season and set him on a long course of physical rehabilitation.
Almost six months later, as we see in the above Network A! video, Reed is riding again and preparing for the 2013 Supercross season.
At his home track in Florida the 30-year-old Australian and founder of TwoTwo Motorsports candidly discusses his comeback and the inherent risks of his profession.
