MX riders join good sports of Montreal

Ben Milot
Ben Milot soaks up the applause from the Olympic Stadium crowd after his run.

For many years, Montreal has distinguished itself in with sports teams that have made the city proud. Whether it's Canadiens hockey, soccer's Impact or the Alouettes of Canadian football, Montreal supporters are always vocal and participate in large numbers.

The arrival of super motocross at Olympic Stadium a few years ago helped the sport once called "underground" rise to become enjoyed by anyone.

These fanatics, aficionados and newcomers get the opportunity to see motocross, freestyle motocross, ATV racing and side-by-side racing in the same event.

In this event you can find riders from all over the world taking big risks while performing spectacular feats to impress the crowd.

This year a good hit list for FMX featured Ben Milot, a former Canadian champion of freestyle motocross, and X Games veterans Nate Adams, Adam Jones and Paul Smith. And don't forget Patrick Carpentier and Alex Tagliani competing in side-by-side discipline. A first for these two drivers with histories in IndyCar and NASCAR.

Analgesics and painkillers were probably taken by many of riders the next few days because it was a spectacular edition filled with bounces, crashes, lost wheels and upside-down action.
