UCLA Bruins running back Johnathan Franklin, the leading rusher in the Pac-12, has thigh and calf contusions as well as a bruised hand and may miss practice time this week, coach Jim Mora said Monday.

Franklin, who has 800 yards rushing to rank No. 4 in the nation, was limited in the second half of a 43-17 loss to California Saturday, a game in which Franklin carried 15 times for 103 yards.

"He got dinged up," Mora said. "So in the second half, he was pretty limited in the number of plays he could get. He was fighting through it and we were moving him in and out."

Franklin had eight carries for 50 yards in the first half at California and seven carries for 53 yards in the second half.

He had runs of 26 and 14 yards in the third quarter, so Franklin had only 13 yards in his five other second-half carries. He had two carries for four yards in the fourth quarter.

"He should be fine," Mora said. "It's the time of the season where as a running back you start to feel the hits."
