??AP Pro32 comments about Steelers??

Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Comments on the Pittsburgh Steelers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):

---

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (9)

Chris Berman (ESPN, 8) -- Dug deep to avoid 1-3, no surprise.

Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 10) -- A short week will test their veteran players, yet Ben Roethlisberger still excels in clutch.

Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 10)

Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 8) -- Getting Mendenhall back will make a world of difference.

Bob Glauber (Newsday, 11) -- Another setback for Troy Polamalu, but Pittsburgh's defense contains Michael Vick, and Ben Roethlisberger was at his best -- again -- in the final minutes to pull out the win.

Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 11) -- Will Troy Polamalu ever play a full 16-game season again? His hits are too big for his body.

Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 15) -- Troy Polamalu is hurt again, and the Steelers' defense can't protect fourth-quarter leads. Not good, people. Not good.

Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 10) -- Any fool who writes off this defense never had to block James Harrison.

Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 15) -- Not sure if the Steelers are totally back in top form. The defense showed up this week but the passing game didn't put up a touchdown. Mendenhall changed the face of the running game first game back.

John Lynch (Fox Sports, 8) -- The Steelers beat the Eagles, but have to be concerned as Troy Polamalu reinjured his calf.

Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 9) -- It took just one game, a 16-14 squeaker over Philadelphia, for a now-healthy Rashard Mendenhall to become Pittsburgh's rushing leader.

Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 8) -- Their victory over the Eagles could have been a turning point. The Steelers might be starting to come on.
