RPM to continue as Ford team
By Terry Blount
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Richard Petty Motorsports will continue as a Ford team in 2013, Petty and Ford officials announced Friday.
"Our team relationship with Ford Racing has helped us win races and be competitive in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series," Petty said. "They have been our partner over the past three seasons and we're proud to continue that relationship."
Petty also said RPM will continue to field two Cup teams in 2013, along with a Nationwide Series team. RPM has extended its contractual alignment with Roush Fenway Racing and Roush-Yates engines to supply cars and motors to RPM.
"Richard's presence means so much to this sport, to the fans, and to us," said Jamie Allison, director of Ford Racing. "We're proud to have the King and RPM with Ford. The team has certainly gained momentum this year, and together we believe the continued Ford technical tools and engineering support will further enable RPM the opportunity to win more races and be a contender to get drivers into the Chase in 2013."
Petty said RPM still is working on its driver contracts for 2013 with Marcos Ambrose in the No. 9 Ford and Aric Almirola in the No. 43 car. But RPM did announce that Michael Annett will continue next season as the driver of the No. 43 Nationwide car.
