Bears: Counterfeit tickets on rise

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears are warning fans about an increase in counterfeit tickets after a 5-1 start to the season.

"We've seen an uptick in counterfeit tickets appearing at games," Bears spokesman Scott Hagel said on Friday. "We had over a hundred last week that were confiscated."

There was one arrest associated with the fake tickets.

"If you're not a season ticket holder, Ticketmaster and the NFL ticket exchange are the only 100 percent sources for tickets for games," Hagel said.

The Bears say it's not good enough just to examine your tickets. Stolen tickets are often re-sold, but by game time they've been canceled out and are not accepted by the scanner at the gate.

Hagel also warned fans who will be traveling to games on the road.

"We've already had word from a couple of different markets we're going to coming up, specifically Tennessee, that they are also seeing an uptick when they know a lot of Bears fans will be coming to their stadium," he said.

The Bears play the Carolina Panthers Sunday at Soldier Field and travel to Tennessee Nov. 4.
